Excellent resource for Huron County Genealogists

This collection of notebooks was donated to the Pigeon District Library by Mrs. Dryden (Joann) Haist, formerly of Pigeon. Mrs. Haist compiled the information over several years, using Pigeon newspapers from 1897 to 1980.Each Marriage notebook lists marriages in alphabetic order according to the groom's last name, except for the following names that are filed under the bride's last name because the groom's name was not available:Each sheet lists the publication date of the newspaper from which the information was taken, so you can read the original article if you wish to double check any information.One note of interest - some weddings are listed on a day of the week, without a date. Newspaper publication days changed over the years. From September 1897 to November 26, 1954, the publication day was Friday. Beginning on December 2, 1954, the publication day changed to Thursday. Since October 3, 2001, the publication day has been Wednesday.

Silver Dollar Truck

I have attached a picture of a truck that was owned by the Silver Dollar Bar.  Not too proud to say that my Dad owned the Silver Dollar.  Just part of Bay Port's history.  It was torn down several years ago.  My dad owned it  from the early 40's until his death in 1950.  His name was Ernie Wooster.  The girl in the Picture, I believe is my sister Pat.

   The girl that you think might be my sister is more than likely a Baur girl.  I found a picture of Pat that was about that age.  Her hair was darker and curly.  I wish that I could see the picture closer.  Maybe you can look at it closer.  The boy in the back with the plaid shirt looks like my brother Ron.  If he has a scar running from just under his eye to the middle of his chin, it is my bother.
